Social/Emotional Support

Youth graduating from Attendance Improvement/Drop-out Prevention Program at John Adams High School.

Mental Health Support
SAYA! counselors provide culturally-competent, confidential counseling to help South Asian immigrant youth encountering a range of social and emotional concerns which affect their academic performance, self-esteem, or mental and physical health. These issues range from conflicted relationships with their parents and partners, drug abuse, discrimination, and truancy. Through private sessions, counselors help youth improve their communication with parents, teachers and peers, and teach them coping mechanisms for the different stressors in their lives. SAYA!'s mental health counseling program is currently offered at John Adams High School and Richmond Hill High School.

Academic Intervention Program
SAYA! has partnered with Flushing High School over the past academic year to operate an academic counseling and intervention program for entering 9th grade students at Flushing High School. This program targets students who are struggling in school, providing them with the academic, emotional and social resources to ensure their promotion to the 10th grade.
