SAYA!'s sports program engages high school youth four times a week in organized basketball to increase their athletic skills, health awareness, self-confidence and leadership skills. Through mentoring, conditioning exercises, basketball drills, games and tournaments, the Sports Coordinator motivates youth to set and achieve personal goals. Basketball is a means to an end; the program is about the holistic development of these youth. This year the traveling team competed in four New York City-based competitions: Lefrak City Basketball Tournament, Real People Serious about Basketball (RPSA) Championship, Utopia Classic Tournament and the United East Basketball League (UEBL).

Young Men's Empowerment Group meets on Friday afternoons to play basketball. Sports provides a common activity and safe space for youth to raise social, emotional, cultural and religious challenges and get connected to SAYA!'s other programs.
